Angular x StackLeague

Reflection Report

Angular x Stack League

Details of event/activity

The webinar I attended online was titled “Angular x Stack League”, where it focuses on Basics of Angular Framework and How to deploy on the web. It was held on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 7 PM (GMT-8). The webinar was organized by StackLeague Philippines with resource speaker Mr. Seiji Villafranca a Senior Software Engineer, currently working at SmartBite Malaysia. He has been working for 6 years in the web development industry and has gained extensive experience in web development specialize in multiple frameworks such as Angular. He is an Auth0 Ambassador and also leads the community of Angular Philippines which conducts mentoring and webinar tutorials.

Reflections on the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings)

I learned many things during this webinar about web development. Being a Computer Science student, I already have gathered some of the basic knowledge in Web Development using Angular although there are things, I still did not know but, in this webinar, I learned so much more. The speaker, Mr. Villafranca taught us the basics of angular such as how angular framework makes it easy to develop a web application.  The framework was first called AngularJs to Angular. This change was made because of flaws in the brand-new framework, several years later new Angular was deployed having a much better component-based architecture. I also learned the framework file architecture on how it functions and the usage of every file system which will help on the web development. Another is that how components work that is built-in that will render starting functions as we first launch the application.

The excellent part of this webinar is that he taught us how to make our applications qualify to the progressive web application (PWA) that will help us to develop a more mobile-ready application that most users utilize today. He also gives tips in coding where it is so much better to think for a shorter and simple than having a long and complicated code making the algorithm faster and easy to understand while achieving the same result. Lastly, he taught about web deployment where after making it PWA certified, he compiles the sample application to be deployed on Netlify right after. I learned on this part that it’s the compiled version is the one going to be deployed and not the whole project folder as I know because I don’t have experience on it yet having seen it live made it clear to my mind.

Reflections on possibilities on implementing some of the webinar input on a practical level (practical application of learnings)

This webinar is very relevant because I could try to implement all the new ideas, I have gained in this to my current and future projects. As I am using Angular Framework for my present thesis project, especially the part on web deployment.

Positive feedback (on the event organization)

For me, this webinar is so relevant and I can say that my time is worth spending. With this knowledge Now I can be more mindful of each process we made on web development has a wide community and continues update I can use this knowledge and expand my expertise using angular. It is also very understandable presentation for the user because he using illustrations to easily understand each slide.

Suggestions for improvements to be made/ consider for future activities.

My only suggestion is that I hope to see StackLeague will conduct more of this kind of webinar about web technologies and different frameworks for web and mobile applications because it will help many aspiring web developers like me.
