Advancing with Laravel Framework

Reflection Report

Advancing with Laravel Framework

Details of event/activity

The webinar we organized online was titled “Advancing with Laravel Framework”, the topic is about the basics of Laravel Framework. It was held on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at 2 PM (GMT-8). The webinar was organized by our Team “Code Phantoms” together with resource speaker Mr. Jerone Alimpia. He is currently working as a Computer Science Instructor at the Technological Institute of the Philippines.

Reflections on the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings)

I learned a lot during this webinar especially knowing that there is another framework that can be used to develop a full stack on web development where it is the Laravel Framework that uses PHP Language. As Master Speaker said, it is using the industry standard MVC design pattern. This structure makes the development to be more manageable than traditional PHP web development.

He also did a hands-on code where he created a simple web application with CRUD operations. I also learned that it uses composer commands to generate files like migrations, models, etc. which I found very convenient and useful.  Lastly, I learned that we can also integrate different front-end js libraries such as bootstrap like Mr. Alimpia did.

Reflections on possibilities on implementing some of the webinar input on a practical level (practical application of learnings)

Although this framework was not new to me, it refreshed my stock knowledge. I can use this framework in the future where if a job requires me to develop a web application for PHP Framework. I can also use this framework to build APIs to integrate for other frontend frameworks such as Angular or ReactJS.

Positive feedback (on the event organization)

The speaker was very flexible because he was still able to finish his presentation even there are technical issues which are very commendable. He also makes technical terms to lay man's terms to get easily understand to the viewers which are very good for fresh learners with this framework.

Suggestions for improvements to be made/ consider for future activities.

The webinar was a success for both our team and the speaker. One thing I would like to suggest on the part of our team, to add up an ice-breaker part of our events to enhance the interactivity.

Other than that, I hope to see Mr. Alimpia be able to share again with us his new ideas if ever for the future webinar.
