Reflection Report

StackLeague x ReactJS : Why React?

Details of event/activity

The webinar I attended online was titled “StackLeague x ReactJS: Why React?”, where it focuses on the Basics of React Library and reasons why we should use ReactJS. It was held on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 6 PM (GMT-8). The webinar was organized by StackLeague Philippines with resource speaker Mr. Miguel N. Galace, a Software Engineer, currently working at PayMongo Philippines. He has been working for 4+ years in the industry experience with ReactJS. He is a one community lead at React JS Philippines, out of work, he also spends his weekend teaching children how to code thru the AHA Learning Center Barangay Coding Program.

Reflections on the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings)

I learned many things during this webinar about ReactJS. As an angular framework user, ReactJS is new to me. As the master speaker said React is a JavaScript library comparably to Angular which is a framework. There was some similar syntax I found but the I find that react makes building frontend neatly. I learned that one advantage is it uses a declarative style to create an interactive user interface. It also offers Component-based architecture where it encapsulates components to manage their states and be able to build complex UI's.

Also, Mr. Galace states that there is ReactJS which aims to build web applications, and React Native for building a mobile application, so I learned that react js also offers mobile development as well. Lastly, the difference with the programming paradigm is pretty obvious using react from angular that uses Object-oriented. Lastly, I learned that with this library, we can directly write react code directly to HTML.

Reflections on possibilities on implementing some of the webinar input on a practical level (practical application of learnings)

This webinar is very helpful to me as I have no idea how ReactJS works and the idea I gathered here will be used to learn more frontend libraries. Also, this is a starting point for me too, to learn more about it and I could use it to find a job because it is one of the top listed that has job offers.

Positive feedback (on the event organization)

For me, this webinar is so relevant and I can say that my time is worth spending. Thanks to the organizer and speaker that I have now learned a new library that I could use in the feature. Also, the speaker was also very comprehensive when answering Q and A's which is very commendable even the questions are tough.

Suggestions for improvements to be made/ consider for future activities.

My only suggestion is that I hope to see StackLeague will conduct more of this kind of webinar about web technologies and different frameworks for web and mobile applications because it will help many aspiring developers like me.
